Rural Broadband and Economic Growth for Southern Maryland

Maryland Broadband Cooperative President Drew Van Dopp shared updates at the Jan. 23 Tri-County Council meeting on efforts to expand reliable internet access in rural Southern Maryland communities like Nanjemoy and Newburg. He highlighted partnerships with state agencies and Think Big Networks that helped overcome challenges such as dense forests and low population density. The meeting also featured remarks from Maryland Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Stephen Rice on the state’s economic growth strategy and concluded with leadership changes for the Tri-County Council.
