Maryland Broadband Cooperative’s Middle Mile is Future-Ready

Maryland Broadband Cooperative is upgrading its 2,600-mile middle-mile fiber network with advanced Ciena technology to deliver faster, more scalable connectivity across Maryland and Virginia. The enhanced network will support services ranging from 1G to 400G, improve cellular backhaul capacity, and expand reliable broadband access for rural and underserved communities. MdBC leaders say the future-ready infrastructure will help fuel economic development, telehealth, remote learning, and business growth while strengthening network resilience and efficiency for its ISP members.
